Mel has been a Pole Fitness Instructor since 2008. With no dance or gymnastics or any fitness background, Mel fell in love with pole dancing the moment she started. It has changed the trajectory of her life in the best way possible. She is one of the founding partners of The Salt Mine and loves to bring in Pole Stars and Master Trainers to share with all the students and studios Utah. Mel went from having zero fitness certifications to holding about 10 different certifications - she is an education and anatomy junkie! Mel loves to teach brand new pole babies and watch them grow. She loves to create quality instructors and wants to help everyone become the best versions of themselves! She also enjoys shoes and has many platform stilettos in her collection. When she isn't at the studio she is most likely doing something super fun.

Katie’s love for dance started in childhood, and in 2010 she discovered pole after watching Felix Cane’s iconic Miss Pole Dance Australia performance. One class was all it took.

She’s been teaching since earning her XPERT certification in 2015, bringing a warm, encouraging, and playful energy to every class. Katie believes that moving your body helps feelings and emotions work themselves out—that staying connected to yourself is powerful self-care. Her classes create space for students to explore that connection through movement, confidence, and expression.

Ann started dancing with ballroom dance with her papa in the kitchen. It was love at first step. She was on the ballroom team in college, then became passionately involved with pole fitness and sensual movement in 2009, eventually becoming a teacher. Fascinated with the world of upside down thought, she then ventured to an Antigravity class, and discovered a new hidden movement technique which fed her body, heart, and mind in a new way. She taught AGY for several years before venturing out on a traveling extravaganza, and now that the Saltiest of Cities is her home again, she is ready to help others to learn the movement techniques which have made a difference for her. Ann loves to celebrate her students’ victories, and believes that victories in class, lead to successes in life. She is currently certified in Antigravity Fundamentals, Restorative, and Aerial Yoga techniques. Come fly with her!

Courtney Stevens is an award-winning professional aerialist and instructor located in Salt Lake City, UT. Her background consists of 8 years of gymnastics and 10 years of ballroom dance. Her circus journey began in 2013, then dove in full time in 2014 and never looked back. She specializes in silks, flexibility, and chair dance. She is experienced in most aerial apparatuses, as well as basic ballet, burlesque, contortion, and partner acrobatics. She is a performer for multiple local production companies including Voodoo Productions, Temptaxxions, Prohibition Utah, and more. She also owns her own production company, Chaos Circus Co, specializing in themed cabaret entertainment. 

Over the years she has developed her stylistic approach, focusing on flexibility, fluidity, and musicality. Her passion resides in performing and teaching. She thrives on opportunities to help students discover their capabilities and meet their goals. She caters to all levels, genders, and sizes, ages 8-70. She has been an instructor since 2015, teaching at most of the major studios in Utah. She currently operates her own business through the Salt Mine SLC. In addition to her decades of experience, she is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Certified Flexibility Instructor, and Xpert Certified Silks Instructor. 

Justin has had an affinity for dance ever since he was a kid. At 8 years old he started training in Latin and Standard ballroom dance and went on to compete 3 years in a row at the Gem State Classic competition in Rexburg, Idaho. Eventually he branched out and experimented in ballet, hip-hop, and tap dance but nothing stuck out to him. After a few years without dance, he ended up rekindling his love through pole and sensual movement. A couple months into taking classes at the Salt Mine, he was hooked on pole. Now he is extremely excited to dive into his first teaching position and share his love for movement with the world!

Ky started her journey in pole in December 2019 and never could have imagined how one class would change her life. It reminded her of her individual power and helped her to find herself once again. After taking her first pole class she was addicted and took over 130 classes in her first year. She began teaching in November of 2021 and has gotten Certifications in Beginner and Intermediate Pole as well as floor work. With a background in education Ky loves to provide her students with options that target different learning styles. With her favorite thing being students finding new sides to themselves.

Jess began her journey into dancing and performing in the spring of 2017. Starting with monthly twerk classes, before she knew it she was taking multiple classes per week and performing with a team of professional booty shakers called Salty Peaches. It wasn't until last summer, when she began taking classes at the newest Salt Mine location, that she realized teaching was the next best step in her journey. As an instructor, she hopes to share all of what dance has given her, to help others find joy and embodiment through sensual movement. 

Megan has been dancing, cheering, practicing yoga & performing since her early childhood. Throughout her life, Megan has used body movement to find strength & peace in the face of adversity. She is passionate about unlocking the “art of possible” with each student thorough her use of inspiring & engaging teaching techniques, helping her class achieve their individual goals.

Megan’s various fitness certifications as well as personal health struggles have given her a thorough understanding of body mechanics so she is able to effectively adapt any class to fit your needs. Megan prioritizes creating a safe, fun and supportive environment for every body & soul while holding true to the belief that movement is medicine & fitness should be functional (as well as fun!)

Her most popular class, Pole-ga, centers on active flexibility and support for the body through pole-inspired yoga movement. While the class is geared towards pole dancers, it is open to anyone and can be a great jumping off point to become well acquainted with your own body and the art of pole dance. 

Megan enjoys spending time with her family, making new friends, loves finding beauty in all things & people; she finds her greatest joy while helping others.

A true heels expert and an unapologetic body-mechanics nerd, she guides students from absolute zero to full Goddess energy with clarity, precision, and fire.

Her teaching is deeply influenced by music, emotion, and the unique personalities of the people around her. Katrina thrives on watching her students uncover hidden skills, build confidence, and reveal new layers of themselves they never knew existed.

Her signature style is powerful, sexy, fluid, and undeniably tasty—an intoxicating blend of strength, sensuality, and artistry. With Katrina, progress isn’t just possible; it’s inevitable.

Jessie is a pole and movement artist based in Salt Lake City. She was first introduced to pole in 2008, started taking classes regularly in 2017, and began teaching in 2019. Jessie loves supporting her students in their unique fitness journeys. Her passion lies in helping students build confidence and control off and on the pole, as well as helping her students find their own distinct movement styles.

Jessie teaches a range of students, from true beginners to advanced, and brings expertise and skill to a variety of styles and modalities. She has taught classes or offered workshops in:

Sarah Gross

she/her

Sarah has been practicing and performing aerial since 2020. Hammock, also called sling, is her first love. She now instructs dance hammock at the salt mine and especially loves spinning and low-flow styles of movement. You will enjoy her class if you have a fondness for puzzles, making hard things look easy, and making easy things look beautiful. Aerial hammock provides such a unique blend of support, tension, wrapping, and opportunities for creativity that anyone who tries it will fall in love with it. Sarah is Xpert Aerial Hammock Certified and began teaching at The Salt Mine in 2025. Outside of class, you will find her training corde lisse, playing with her dog, and filling her garden with native desert plants.
